What Can I Do?
**************************************************************************************
Some Baton Rouge residents are attempting to influence the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Board of Control into building the new public library at the Burbank location instead of the Perkins Road (Rouzan) location. In the currently scheduled location at Perkins Road (Rouzan) more than 1200 families will be able to easily walk to the library. If the new library is built at the Burbank location all patrons will be required to drive.
The Perkins Road (Rouzan) branch will be within easy walking distance to two schools and within easy access to numerous other schools. If the library branch is moved to the Burbank location all these students will require adults to drive them to the library.
If this change is approved, it will not influence the construction of Rouzan, which some may hope, but will cause Rouzan to be built without the library. This will be a loss to all Baton Rouge residents, especially our children.
Please contact the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Board of Control and tell them to leave the new Library at the Perkins Road (Rouzan) location. Here is a link to the Library Board of Control website, which contains contact information for each board member.

Now that the rezoning of Rouzan to TND has been approved it is important that those concerned on either side of the issues with Rouzan stay involved to ensure the best possible integration of Rouzan into the surrounding neighborhoods. Here are a few suggestions to ensure that Rouzan lives up to its possibilities.
- Stay involved with the Rouzan Development Team. Contact JTS Interests and meet with them to discuss the Rouzan development. Offer suggestions and make comments on what you would like to see in Rouzan. Continue to meet with them periodically as the Rouzan design develops and moves into the final design and implementation phases.
- Next, be sure you understand the facts associated with the Rouzan development. A good place to start is the Information Section, FAQ Section, or the Developer's Web Site.
- Contact our Metro Councilman and thank him for his support of the Rouzan development. Despite many challenges, Mr. Skyring did not waiver in his support. Let him know that you appreciate his commitment and leadership.
- Contact the Mayor-President, the other Metro Council members, and the Planning Commission and t
- Next talk with your neighbors. When discussing Rouzan, please be respectful of everyone's opinions. If it appears that they are confusing facts about Rouzan, suggest they investigate this site (www.for-rouzan.org) as a starting point.
Remember that each development phase must come before the Baton Rouge Planning Commission for approval. It is important to stay involved and continue to voice your support of Rouzan to our city/parish leaders through each phase.
