  • Rouzan’s ground work to begin early next year
    14 November 2008 - Baton Rouge The Advocate
    "    Ground work is set to begin in the first three months of 2009 on Rouzan, the traditional neighborhood development on Perkins Road near College Drive.

    Developer Tommy Spinosa said Thursday that, though some final details still must be worked out, the first phase of construction will include 30,000 square feet of commercial, retail and multi-family residential among three buildings, as well as a new public library branch and 46 residential units."

  • Developer backs off expansion proposal
    08 November 2008 - Baton Rouge The Advocate
    "    Developer Tommy Spinosa has backed off plans to expand the commercial sector of his proposed Rouzan neighborhood on Perkins Road near College Drive."

  • Expanded Rouzan plans set for hearing
    31 October 2008 - Baton Rouge The Advocate
    "    Developer Tommy Spinosa is set to go before the city-parish next month on a rezoning application that would double the commercial space at his proposed Rouzan neighborhood on Perkins Road near College Drive."

  • Panel passes Rouzan library
    16 October 2008 - Baton Rouge The Advocate
    "    A Metro Council panel advanced a proposal Wednesday to give the city-parish authority to accept a donation of land for a new public library branch in the proposed Rouzan mixed-use development near College Drive and Perkins Road."

  • Planning panel OKs first phase of Rouzan
    23 September 2008 - Baton Rouge The Advocate
    "    By a 7-1 vote, the city-parish Planning Commission gave final approval for Spinosa’s first-phase plan to build 179 residential units and 40,360 square feet of commercial development on 19 acres. Spinosa plans to eventually develop 750 residential units and 100,000 square feet of commercial space on the 119-acre tract."

  • Perkins library [Rouzan] timeline laid out
    16 May 2008 - Baton Rouge The Advocate
    "    Developer Tommy Spinosa laid out a timeline Thursday that calls for construction to begin on a 12,000-square-foot library in his Rouzan mixed-use development to begin by the end of the year... Spinosa made it clear Thursday he’s ready to move on the 119-acre project on Perkins Road near College Drive."

  • Southside Civic Association Attempting to Stop the Southdowns Public Library?
    30 April 2008 - John Berry, Acting President of the Southside Civic Association, appears to be trying to stop the Public Library planned for the Southdowns area in Rouzan.   • Skyring Recall Attempt Fails
    28 April 2008 - Baton Rouge Business Report
    Southside Civic Association board member Alexis St. Amant's attempt to recall Metro Council member Mickey Skyring fails getting less than 1/6th of the districts registered voters signatures.

  • Two Opposition Lawyers File Lawsuit
    31 January 2008 - Baton Rouge Business Report
    Two lawyers Alexis St. Amant and Robert Roland, who are both board members of the Southside Civic Association, file a lawsuit against the rezoning of Rouzan.  Prior to rezoning approval, the Parish Attorney assures that the concerns associated with this lawsuit had been addressed.

  • Metro Council Approves Rouzan
    23 January 2008 - WAFB Channel 9 Baton Rouge
    The Baton Rouge Metro Council approves Rouzan by a 9 to 3 vote. Here is a link to the Rouzan Final Rezoning Ordinance.

  • Panel reviews proposal before vote

    10 December 2007
    The Baton Rouge City-Parish Planning Commission approves Rouzan by a 6 to 3 vote.
